警察宿舍群
宿舍群歷史可以追溯到1901年，當時建造了大嵙崁支廳新廳舍以及週邊宿舍，除了一間支廳長官舍外，另有五間廳員宿舍，加上周邊附屬建築四棟共計十一棟建築，總計三百五十二坪餘。由配置圖可得知，當時建築內沒有浴室，是另外在空地設置浴場。

隨著制度改變，大嵙崁支廳於1920年轉作大溪郡役所，廳舍宿舍建築都陸續經過改建，戰後又因空間使用的不足，建造了許多混凝土結構的建物，原有木造建築也隨使用情形陸續加建混凝土與鐵皮屋頂。

歷史文化價值與重要性
一、大溪百年警政沿革的見證
本區域因產權屬於大溪警察分局，而未遭受過度的開發，是少數仍能保有生活情境氛圍的完整宿舍群。宿舍群一路見證了大溪從日治到民國近百年的警政沿革與變遷，也是傳承大溪過往生活與近百年來警察故事的重要據點。
二、各類建築的多樣性
另外本區建築包含各種等級的日式木造宿舍、也有戰後以混凝土與鐵皮加建的房舍，這些豐富多樣的建築類型，使本宿舍群具有獨特的風貌，難得的是各類型建築並存並相互尊重的精神。

三、記錄不同時代的生活軌跡
宿舍群因為使用者的變更記錄下許多時代的痕跡，更增加了本區域建築的豐富與複雜性，故登入名稱為大溪警察局「宿舍群」而非「日式宿舍群」。
四、特有的崖線地理條件
從前居民沿崖線下到溪邊洗衣洗菜，以及戰時的河邊防空洞成為戰後孩童的遊樂場，這獨特的地理條件，成為本區宿舍群與其他日式宿舍群最大的不同，這些因為地理環境而形成的居民生活方式與故事，值得被保留與紀錄。

Police Dormitory Complex
Registered status: Taoyuan City Historic Building
The Daxi Police Dormitory Complex here was built in 1901, in the time of Dakekan Subprefecture. During the Japanese occupation it was used as offices for Dakekan Subprefecture and then Daxi County, and after the war as police dormitories for Daxi Precinct. Its numerous reconstructions recorded the development of the police system in Daxi. After the war, the Daxi Assembly Hall was used as a vacation villa by the late President Chiang Kai-shek; neighboring areas became a control zone, enriching the story of this settlement.
Structures in this area were listed as Taoyuan City Historic Buildings in 2012. Restoration work, divided by year and area, began in 2015 and was completed in 1921. The buildings recount tales of the dormitory, and the Crafts Center has been positioned as a space for wood crafts introduction and innovation. The Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum is charged with the planning and operation of the Daxi History Hall, Craftsman Story House, Martial Arts Dojo, Wood Life Hall, and Wood Furniture Hall, etc., and its aim is to provide an understanding of life, culture, and crafts in Daxi through multidimensional experiences.
