捨不得拆的電線杆
六連棟警察宿舍在交給木博館修護時，木博館想要透過老宿舍的修護與老物件的保留，把警察住戶曾經在這裡的生活故事分享給大家。
The power poles we cannot part with…
When the police dormitories of the six-unit Dormitory were turned over to the Wood Art Ecomuseum for renovation, the staff decided to recount the lifescape snapshots of this place and share them with all through the course of dormitory repair and artifacts preservation.

而這根舊款木製電線杆也有個小故事：六連棟9號宿舍的詹家孫女，暑假有空就會回到大溪，陪還住在這裡的詹奶奶一起生活。有一年暑假，剛成年的孫女在這裡練習騎機車，結果油門沒有控制好就直接撞上了這根電線杆，還好電線杆沒有被撞壞。這段有趣回憶，也是詹家人回來時會提起的小故事！
在修護宿舍時，其實已經將電線都重新配置，可以把這些木製電線杆都拆除，但木博館還是把它們都留下，並為它特別挑選了仿古的燈罩，由它來照亮這裡的家記憶。
另外你知道嗎？除了電線杆，木博喵所在的位置也很有意思喔！在六連棟矮圍牆外砌出來的這個方框框，現在木博館將它成為擺放盆景的功能。但是在以前還是警察宿舍時，居民不時的要將這個方框框裝滿水，要不要猜猜看以前這有什麼重要的功能呢？不是為了養魚或是養烏龜喔…是因為擔心發生火災需要緊急用水，所以這個是消防用的蓄水池！
This vintage, wood power pole also comes with its own story. The Zhan family lived in unit No. 9. Their granddaughter came to Daxi to visit during summer breaks if time permitted. She hung out with her grandmother over the break. During one particular break, the young lady, who just came of age, was learning to ride a scooter. She had yet to master the gas control, and run straight into the pole. Thankfully the pole remained intact. This is one of those episodes that the Zhan shared during family reunions.
All the cables were actually rewired when the dormitory units underwent repair, and with that, these wood power poles could easily be taken down. But the Ecomuseum staff chose to preserve them, and curated deliberately aged lamp cover, making it the light that shines upon the nostalgic tales of this home.
Most interestingly though, is that besides the power poles, the place where Whiskers stands now, also comes with a story. Check out this individual square, built just outside the fence that encloses the six-unit Dormitory: the Wood Art Ecomuseum has turned it into a mini garden bed where bonsais rest. But ages ago, when the police dormitories still stood, the locals had to fill this square with water. Venture a guess what purpose it served?
No, it was not used as a fish or turtle tank…it was purposed as an emergency cistern. The locals wanted a readily available water supply to put out possible fires.
