The ML42 stool, designed by Mogens Lassen in 1942 for the Danish Museum of Decorative Arts furniture exhibition, draws inspiration from traditional shoemaker’s stools. It is distinguished by its three tapered wooden legs and a sculpted oak seat, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern ergonomic design. The curvature of the seat perfectly fits the user’s body, with a central raised section at the front for added stability and comfort. The high-legged version of the stool includes a stainless steel footrest, offering both practicality and aesthetic appeal.
Originally produced by K. Thomsen furniture workshop, the ML42 stool is now manufactured by by Lassen, a company dedicated to producing classic designs by Mogens Lassen and his brother Flemming Lassen. With its minimalist design and refined craftsmanship, the ML42 has become a significant piece in Danish design history and remains popular in modern homes for its timeless elegance and functionality."
