Hsu Mu-yuan, a former pupil of Daxi Elementary School, recalled that the school mobilized first- and second-grade schoolgirls to put together a dance troupe and perform for Chiang. Huang Wen-shou, another alumnus, remembers holding a placard and entering the estate to wish Chiang a happy birthday. Lin Qing-tu taught at Daxi Elementary School and shared an anecdote:
“A coworker of ours, Ruan Min, married a man who worked as president Chiang’s chief guard. Thanks to her connection, we at school would put together a dance ensemble and present a bouquet to Chiang…kids in the troupe wore this special kind of shoes that were designed at the last minute. Being able to enter the estate with the presentation was considered a great honor.
