This quadraplex is presumed to be built between the 12th and 15th of Shōwa’s reign (1937-1940), as type-D official residence and part of Daxi’s centennial police dormitory clusters. This architecture is called a quadraplex because there are four separate housing units attached side-by-side in one continuous structure.

To facilitate its showroom purposes, the dividing walls between the units were removed. However, to familiarize visitors with the architectural layout and features of the original structure, the enclosing wall, the front doors of the units, their doorplates, and part of the wood components did not receive any paint-stripping, so as to better preserve the historic markers of antique houses and the life experiences of the inhabitants.

Head inside to the Daxi History Hall for the exhibition and enjoy!
