The Stele of the Patriotic Soul was completed in 1924 to commemorate the military police officers who were killed during an expedition to quell the uprising started by aboriginal Atayal people. The circular foundation extant is the only original component left of the stele. The pagoda was built after WWII and called the Revival Pagoda.
